That’s already enough information to justify a visit, before we’ve even got on to the legendary party atmosphere this town is known for. As the home of Rise Festival this resort has it all, definitely a place for the bucket list.
With a varied terrain, it’s perfect for groups of mixed abilities. Rookies can hone their skills on the nursery slopes and the numerous greens which stretch right up to the glacier, graduating after a weeks practice into experienced skiers and boarders. By this point you will find them enjoying themselves on the blues and reds over on the Pied Moutet side of town.
One of the most unique features about Les Deux Alpes is that it’s piste layout is the opposite to many other resorts, upside down if you like, due to the nature of the mountain.
You will find some of the easiest slopes high up, giving beginners the rare chance to enjoy high-altitude skiing and the insane views that you might miss out on in other resorts.
Les Deux Alpes really comes into its own for advanced skiers, with almost as many challenging black runs on offer as cruising reds. The resort has some of Europe’s best off-piste on offer for those of you who prefer to take a less beaten track.
BEST RESTAURANT
Located in the centre of Les Deux Alpes this restaurant is a fantastic place to visit for traditional local cuisine, with baked camembert, fondue, snails, frogs legs, duck breasts and charcuterie to name but a few things specialties on the menu. The food here is really top notch.
BEST CHEAP EAT
Another spot right in the heart of the town, this Italian restaurant is a great place to grab a takeaway. No frills just delicious pizza!
At Pano Bar up on the mountain at 2600m, near the Jandri mid-station things get started at 3pm – with resident DJ’s and a variety of entertainment it can get pretty wild up there.
If you prefer something a little calmer, the Diable Au Coeur also has DJs on the mountain and a heated terrace bar but not quite the volume of music.
