Avoriaz is also home to the ‘Uber of the Alps’ – being a completely pedestrianised resort can sometimes be a bit weary on the legs, but the Horse Taxis of Avoriaz are there to transport you at a moment’s notice.

With six snowparks to choose from Avoriaz is great for freestyle skiers looking to improve their skills. Le Stash Snow Park is the first giant ecological snow park in Europe. Ideal for both experienced freeride and freestyle skiers and families alike it’s a snow playground not to be missed.

Unique without wheels, have your go at ski joering, travel along on skis whilst being pulled by a horse through stunning mountain countryside offering beautiful views.

With an average of 8 meters of snow every winter and at high altitude you are guaranteed snow cover throughout the season.

If you are an avid cross-country skier then Avoriaz is the resort for you, with an enormous 29.5km of cross-country ski trail spread over 8 loops.

Top picks for restaurants and bars

Here at WhiteRoad we recommend La Reserve restaurant. Located in the heart of Avoriaz’s village La Reserve serves traditional French food. These gourmet dishes are presented beautifully and taste delicious. With live music frequently being played the atmosphere is fantastic. It is a great place to wind down with a large glass of wine in a cosy alpine setting.

For mouth-watering burgers head to Changabang, located just above the Prodains gondola the food is simple but delicious. With outdoor seating you can work on that google tan line you are aiming for. Alternatively, new to the scene is Piz’Burg, located in the village just opposite the ice rink you can get a burger, chips and a drink all under 13 €!

Looking for live music? Le Place is renowned for its live bands, it is a great venue with different bands playing each evening. Le Place also put on Jazz festivals and night parties throughout the season.

For those who want to be out until the early hours of the morning Le Yak is the bar/nightclub is the place to go. If electro-pop is your music of choice then Le Yak is perfect for you, with resident DJs and a variety of guest DJs house music is the genre of choice. Open until 5:30am you can drink and dance until your hearts content.
