SITTING BANG IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TROIS VALLEES, THE SUPER-CUTE RESORT OF MERIBEL IS AT THE BULL’S EYE OF THE 2ND LARGEST SKI AREA IN THE WORLD. THIS PICTURESQUE LITTLE TOWN HIDES AN AMAZING PARTY SCENE, BEING THE HOME OF THE FIRST LA FOLIE DOUCE IT’S UNDERSTANDABLE.
Being in the middle of the Trois Vallees means a monumental 600kms of world-class skiing at your fingertips. Couple that with its postcard-picture, old-school charm of a traditional mountain village and a great vibe and you’ve got one of our favourite resorts.
If you can hold your own on the mountain, it’s definitely worth having a crack at the legendary 76km route circumnavigating the entire Trois Vallees – very much doable in a day, thanks to the modernised lift network.
Those after fast, steep skiing should head over to Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe, while those after a gentler ride should stick around Meribel and enjoy the more settled conditions on the sheltered reds and blues leading into the resort. Here they’ve spent millions in recent years to ensure that rookies are well catered for, with two beginner areas and loads of free lifts.
Meribel is a no-brainer for boarders – there are three snowpark and pipe options in the resort alone, and that’s before we get to the wad of parks across the 3 Vallees, where you’ll have a boat load of hips, slides and jumps to choose from, no matter how good (or bad) you are. There’s also an awesome border cross course for all you wannabe racers – we’ve had a lot of fun (and a couple of bruises) from that over the years…
And don’t be lulled into the ‘quaint mountain village’ image. When the lifts close, the wheels fall off and Meribel comes into its own after hours. There’s very Brit-friendly party vibe that’s meant the notoriously popular Dick’s T Bar and Folie Douce have both set up camp.
Meribel is the one for you if you want all the Trois Vallees sking, the old school traditional resort vibe alongside some cracking après.

It’s so easy to book your own flights these days, why don’t you check the best value flight options with Skyscanner.
Booking your own flights means that you’re not pigeon holed you into flight times which may not suit you, you have complete flexibility and have the freedom to work to your own agenda, and it’s often far better value too. So why not avoid that ungodly 4.00am flight (unless you like them of course) and do your own thing.
