Alpe D’Huez

In terms of Nightlife, again, Alpe D’Huez has it all, from sleepy restaurants and bars for a quiet evening to nightclubs that keep the party going until the earliest of hours.

Affectionately known as L’île au Soleil (that’s Island of Sun obvs) because of its near-constant sunshine all year round, you’ve got cracking conditions that’ll keep even the most nervous of skiers happy. Those wanting something bigger to chew off have got the Sarenne, the longest pisted slope in the world to tackle – a 16km black run with a 2210m vertical drop, no less, although its rating is more down to the fact that once you’re on, you can’t get off rather than difficulty.

Smithy’s Tavern is your traditional British bar/club in the alps, in the eventing they serve excellent food, everything from amazing burgers to some of the best fajitas anywhere. After service is over the tables are quickly cleared to make way for the party which stretches on until the early hours. It’s the sort of place you walk in at 7pm and don’t leave until 2am!

Underground

So why not avoid that ungodly 4.00am flight (unless you like them of course) and do your own thing.
