ABOUT US

We’re a group of ski and snowboard types aged between 25 and 47 and we’ve been around the industry for years. As a consequence of our mixed age range and experience, we have great intuition for what a Whiteroad client expects and needs, ultimately we’re aiming at ourselves. Add in the fact that we do genuinely love to ski and snowboard, we have great empathy with our clients because we also understand budgets and the pressures of organizing holidays.

We’ve travelled to and have often worked in the resorts that we have chosen as Whiteroad resorts, we get a real kick out of making sure other people have a great time and we’ve created Whiteroad to make busy people’s lives easier and less stressful. Hopefully this gives you a small feel for what we’re about.

Whiteroad’s parent company Wasteland Ski, started back in 1994, its sole aim was to make the mountains accessible to the masses by providing awesome, high quality trips at brilliant value to resorts that people previously thought unaffordable. Just to make the point Wasteland started in Val D’Isere. We’ve condensed this 22 years of experience into a single new brand Whiteroad, which is all about making people’s lives easier by taking the stressful decision-making away. We just offer Whiteroad clients the places we’d like to go to and keep it simple.

The companies ethos remains the same today, and, thanks to the buying power and relationships we’ve cemented in the mountains over the years, we can now secure heavily discounted rates on accommodation, lift passes and equipment hire and pass them straight on to our Whiteroad clients.

So whether you’re a bunch of friends on a tight budget or you’re a group looking for something smart and sophisticated. Whiteroad’s resorts will offer you options to suit most requirements. So to get into the swing of things, get in touch, have a chat with us and we will set about getting you out there!

RU
WOOD

C.E.O

Ru Wood, MD, Founder Whiteroad and Wasteland Ski. Born Nottingham 1968 (pre man on the moon) Oooo Old!! LOVE – Skiing, wife, kids, family, the sea, music, friends, home, great colours, design, aesthetics, mowing the lawn. Started Wasteland with no internet, no websites, no mobile phones, no money.

Would you rather wine or beer?

I like Bwine.

Would you rather live without music or live without T.V.?

Couldn’t live without music, it’s a source of real joy for me. TV’s great but doesn’t live with music when it comes to getting the hairs on the back of your neck standing!

LOU
THOMPSON

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Being a hardened Northerner, Lou loves the snow and all things cold!   Sitting on the side of a deserted twinkling piste, under a beautiful blue sky with a picnic, cup of tea from a flask (northerner!) and looking out over the spectacular mountain vista couldn’t be closer to heaven for Lou.

Would you rather only be able to whisper or only be able to shout?

Shouting
I love shouting!

Would you rather be able to stop time or fly?

100% fly!
I would love to get around like that without having to go through the faff at the airport!

CASEY
PAINVIN

SALES MANAGER

Casey was born and bred in France. Though to be fair you wouldn’t think this if you heard him, his introduction to the English language came from daily episodes of ‘Eastenders’ and the very occasional ‘Only Fools and Horses’ – the Cockney Franglais is strong with this one. Travelling is Casey’s true passion.

Would you rather be able to stop time or fly?

I would rather stop time – think ‘Bernard’s Watch’

Would you rather live without music or live without T.V.?

I wouldn’t be able to cope without music in my life. Open to all genres, from Ludivico Einaudi to Rage against the Machine.

GEORGIE ROBERTS

TRAVEL CONSULTANT

With 2 seasons under her belt Georgie is a keen skier who enjoys tackling off piste (but not always gracefully). A case of ‘no friends on a powder day’, she’ll be nowhere to be found in the morning, but you’ll likely find her sat in a bar at the end of the day supping a pint of 1080.

Would you rather only be able to whisper or only be able to shout?

Shout – my voice is pretty loud anyway so it wouldn’t be much change for me.

Would you rather own a ski lodge or a surf camp?

One day I plan to make a ski lodge a reality so no competition there!

Plus I can’t surf…

PAUL CLERKIN

FINANCE MANAGER

As a wild Irishman Paul enjoys nothing more than throwing himself down a snow covered mountain.  What he lacks in style he makes up in enthusiasm. When he’s not balancing the company books he enjoys playing music and exploring London.

Would you rather meet an alien visitor or travel to outer space?

I have a terrible fear of flying, the thought of boarding a plane is bad enough let alone a spacecraft.

Would you rather own a ski lodge or a surf camp?

The thoughts of a surf camp are appealing but my pasty Irish skin wouldn’t cope. Ski Lodge, wood fire and a supply of red wine.

GAZ
HUNTER

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Also from the Northern area of England, Gaz is no stranger to the cold. When he is not chasing fresh tracks, or jibbing around the piste you can find Gaz enjoying an ice cold beverage at Après.

There’s no other place Gaz would rather be!

Would you rather meet an alien visitor or travel to outer space?

Outer space for sure, its nuts! It just goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on…

Would you rather wine or beer?

Beer, generally of the ‘crafty’ veriety. But any beer is great chilled against a mountain backdrop!

Santé!
